Unit 1:
First online show
In a big online show, Unit 1 of the MA Fine Art course at UAL Camprual displayed more than 80 artworks by students and professional staff at a rate of one minute for each piece. It was 80 minutes of visual, intellectual and cultural mobility. My piece for the show was called ‘I am looking for you, and I find you’.

I look for you everywhere and I find you

MA Fine Art students’ drawing show..

The second show was a more detailed part of the MA Fine Art covering drawing, showing students’ work, themes and ideas in five-minute presentations. I ended my presentation with this video, entitled ‘Warm nostalgia’ related to space, place and nostalgia between different places in my home country.

First tutorial with Sara Woodfine
The first tutorial focused on our proposal as a small group of students. It was an opportunity to share my ideas and plans with different people who had different experiences. I showed some of my videos and photos which reflected my vision in this proposal entitled ‘Memory places as a way of presenting culture practices in Saudi society through the five senses in contemporary art’.
Sara’s feedback
-
Think more about audience participation in the artistic experience.
-
Some artists have a similar artistic direction (Richard Long, Rirkrit Tiravanija).

Second tutorial with Fran

The second tutorial was a private one-to-one meeting lasting 45 minutes. We looked together at my recent experimental research on dates.
Fran’s feedback
-
Think about the meaning of the dates (use photographs)
You need to test them on others to see how they function and what they mean -
Don't make artwork but try to find a meaning
-
How can drawing practice be used to investigate the significance of the date in Saudi culture?
-
How can drawing practice usefully interrogate the everyday objects/foods of Saudi culture and social ritual?

Third tutorial with Sara Woodfine
At this meeting, I presented all my experiences that I worked on and reviewed with Sarah the basic idea of research.
And one of these experiments was my work as a performer to show in First critique in MA Fine Art.
we discussed about some points that can improve the research way like how I can thinking about my artwork to see the viewer with some artist how have the same way that may be related with my work.
it was before the first critique in MA Fine Art show which in my opinion help me to decision and discuss about different points in my work and research.

First critique in MA Fine Art with grope 4B.

This critique involved the opposite group giving feedback on our student work without having any background information: this is known as a silent critique.
We responded at the end of the feedback. Each group was overseen by a member of staff.
This experience was an opportunity to look at and to know what other people see and understand in this work.
The reactions were
-
there is a story through this work.
-
it's related with a new place.
-
shadow and movement make something interesting.
-
sounds such as music tell something.
-
it's a clever way that I chose to express and present my idea.

MA Fine Art: Drawing, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture
26 January 2021
Half-day sessions – 10-12.30 BMT.
In teams with Ian Monroe
In this show, all students gave an 8 - 10 minute verbal presentation to a small group of MA Fine Art students and staff. I talked about my online platform in order to introduce my studio practice, research and my contexts by:
• Introducing my research question and core subject
• Discussing my key themes and the specific focus of my research
• Outlining relevant contexts and critical debates and how they shape my research and practice
• Discussing my methods of research and the processes and media used in my practical artwork
This was an opportunity for me to receive feedback on the Unit 1 Online Platforms and to consider the ways in which I shall develop my works as I move into different resources in specific ideas in art food and place.
